Learning and Development Consultant Business Partner

Apprenticeship Overview

A Learning and Development (L&D) Consultant Business Partner is responsible for ensuring L&D enhances performance at individual, team, and organisational levels. They align learning initiatives with the business’s strategic goals and act as change agents, influencing stakeholders and providing recommendations on L&D strategies. Their role may include driving initiatives around sustainability or supporting the UK’s goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

They often lead L&D aspects of business projects and bring expertise in specific areas, such as technical, vocational, or behavioural disciplines. Their work is strategically aligned with business priorities, focusing on measurable outcomes and return on investment. The role can be generalist or specialised, such as in organisation development, digital learning, or talent management, but always requires a broad knowledge of L&D and a forward-thinking approach.

L&D Consultant Business Partners operate across sectors, working closely with HR teams and supported by L&D administrators or practitioners. They typically report to senior management and may manage teams and budgets, especially in larger organisations.
